Heath Owens

"The community of Arroyo Grande has been very good to our Family that is why we started giving back and creating Athletic competitions for the community."

  • Played Football & ran Track at Arroyo Grande HS

  • Received a Football scholarship to Cal Poly -SLO. Named to Arroyo Grande High Schools Athletic Hall of Fame

  • Coached most youth sports while my kids were growing up. Also coached football & girls cross country at AGHS. Coached XC , track & soccer at Paulding Middle School

  • My daughter Karlee received a Track & Cross Country Scholarship and my son Garrett received a Football scholarship after attending AGHS

  • Co-Founder, AG All Comers Track Meets

Laurie Owens

"I have a life long passion to get kids excited about movement in both athletics and in life."

  • Advocate of multi sport athletes

  • My kids, Karlee and Garrett, both received Division 1 scholarships while participating in multiple sports

  • All American 400m hurdler and relays at Cal Poly

  • Formed youth track club with over 100 athletes called Arroyo Grande Falcons, 2001

  • 30 years experience coaching XC, Soccer, and Track at youth, middle school and high school varsity levels

  • Co-Founder, AG All Comers Track Meets

Adam Laurent

"I’m here to catalyze other’s love for sport"

  • Graduated Arroyo Grande High School, 47 year resident of the Central Coast

  • Formed and operated the USATF Swell Youth Track Club, 2019

  • Co-Founder, AG All Comers Track Meets

  • Olympian, cycling, 1996; 2 time World Championship medalist; 10 time National Champion, national record holder for 23 years

 

 

We are former college athletes, several pro athletes and even two Olympians. Together we do real work to give back to our community and share the love and joy of athletic

Jasmine Goodell

I have a passion for fitness and motivating others to find theirs.

  • Working in the running industry for 10+ years

  • Was an avid runner running half marthons/marathons

  • My daughter was a multi sport athlete (soccer/track) who benefited through youth organizations that developed her talents

Michelle June Cavaletto

My childhood Track and Field experience has created a desire to give back to the community and share my love for the sport of Track and Field as well as Cross Country.

  • Central Coast native

  • Graduated St. Joseph High School 1999

  • Competed in Cross-Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field at CSU, Fresno

  • 3 time Granite Games CrossFit professional competitor

  • Began coaching Cross-Country in 2003

  •  Over 10 years of coaching CrossFit, with 3 years of Coaching Kid Camps

  • Certifications and Education have included NASM Certified Personal Trainer, CrossFit L1, DNS 1, NASM Women’s Fitness Specialization, NASM Youth Exercise Specialization

Brian Goodell

Youth athletics is extremely important in helping youth discover and develop talents that could otherwise be missed.

  • High School/Collegiate Athlete. Graduated from Cal Poly/CSUB. Coached youth

  • High School and collegiate athletes for over 30 years focusing on soccer and track and field

  • Most recently coaching athletes at Paulding Middle school, AGHS, Boise State, Humboldt and Baylor

  • My daughters were multi sport athletes at AGHS and now run at the collegiate level for Humboldt and Baylor

I love the sport of Track and Field and just want to give back to the sport that gave me so much.

  • 6x Big Ten Champion

  • 2001 NCAA runner up in Decathlon

  • 3x USA Indoor Heptathlon Champion

  • 3x USA World Champs Team Member

  • 2004 Olympian in Track and Field

Kara June Thorne

As a mother of two young children who is married to a man who shares the same passion about running as I do, I am Enthusiastic about sharing the joy that athletics can bring

  • Central Coast Native

  • Graduated from St. Joseph’s high school, 2000, 4 time State qualifier in cross country while at SJ

  • Competed in cross country and track at Cal State University Fresno 2000-2004

  • 4 time Western Athletic Conference Champion in the Steeplechase

  • USATF Junior National Champion 2k Steeplechase, 2001

  • Graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies

  • 2 time Olympic Trials Qualifier, steeplechase, 2008 and 2012

  • Team USA, NACAC 2010

  • AYSO Region 83 Volunteer Coach of the Year 2021-2022

Joe Thorne

 "I’m looking forward to encouraging and promoting track and field and running events with youth athletes on the Central Coast so they may learn the sport, live healthier lives and find joy in moving."

  • 7 X State Champion at Lakeside High School in Atlanta, GA

  • 3 X Georgia Runner of the year

  • 4 X All American

  • National Champion 2001, 2K Steeplechase

  • 2 X NCAA All American at University of Texas

  • Voted Team Captain- 2006, 2007

  • Studied Health Promotion and Fitness, degree in Kinesiology, 2007

  • Triathlon Professional, competing 5x at Ironman World Championship

  • Best Finish - 8th American, 36th overall, 2nd fastest run split in the world; 2012

  • Austin Marathon Champion 2017

  • Recently coaching youth sports on the Central Coast: soccer, basketball and baseball. 

  • Ten year resident of the Central Coast

Jean Drummond Petersen

  • 26 year resident of the central coast and Cal Poly alumni

  • Accomplish youth cross country runner turned adult long distance runner and triathlete. Completing in numerous marathons, half marathons, and triathlons  locally and across the country including Boston Marathon.

  • Passionate runner, mother of 2 future runners. Determined to spread the joy of running to our community, starting with our young people.
